Complementary Therapies and UK Law
Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) are not legally regulated, except under the circumstances of Osteopathy and Chiropractic therapies. It is up to the individual to decide whether CAM therapies are right for them.
Medical Advice Disclaimer
Charlotte Howard is not qualified to diagnose or provide advice regarding your health. If you require advice relating to a particular health concern, Charlotte Howard recommends you to contact your doctor or another qualified and regulated medical practitioner. All natural, holistic health care should be regarded as complementary and not a substitute for conventional health care.
UK Veterinary Law
Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, only qualified veterinary surgeons may legally diagnose, advise on treatment based on the diagnosis, treat, and operate on animals. The exceptions to this, under Schedule 3 are registered veterinary nurses, student nurses, and student veterinary surgeons who may carry out minor procedures under guidance. The animal owner, or persons engaged in caring for animals used within agriculture, may also carry out minor procedures and treatments that do not enter the body cavity.
Complementary therapies such as homoeopathy and aromatherapy are illegal under veterinary law unless done so by a qualified and registered veterinary surgeon.
The Royal College of Veterinary Science (RCVS) does not recognise Reiki or any form of energy healing, and so it is not regulated by veterinary law. However, before any "laying of hands" therapies may take place, it is advisable to seek veterinary consent. For this reason, all animals treated by Charlotte Howard must be registered with a veterinary surgeon, and will not be seen unless veterinary advise has been sought. Permission forms are available on request.
Spiritual Guidance and UK Law
For legal purposes, all spiritual guidance services (i.e. Mediumship, Tarot Readings, Tea Leaf divinations, Seances & Ouija parties, and Magical Workings) offered by Charlotte Howard are for entertainment purposes only and we do not guarantee the accuracy of a reading or other service. They should not be considered a substitute for professional advice upon which decisions are made nor relied upon as fact. Charlotte Howard does not accept liability for any form of loss or damage that may occur as a result of a reading or spiritual guidance session.
We cannot refund for any guidance or reading that the customer feels is inaccurate.
Working with Children & Animals
Charlotte Howard takes part in regular safeguarding workshops and has been DBS checked by Somerset County Council, Girl Guides, and The Scouting Association. However, these are not transferable.
While Charlotte Howard is happy to work with children and animals, the appointment must be made by a legal parent/guardian/owner over the age of 18, who must be present during all treatments. A consent form will be produced, which must be signed before any treatments can take place.
Candle Safety
The Tyger's Eye accepts no responsibility for damage done by misuse of the candles. We highly recommend removing large herbs or crystals using a sharp pin or toothpick, and never leaving a candle to burn unattended. Please look at the ingredient list for possible allergens.
The herbs used may alter the burn time slightly. They may catch light and smoulder / spark. If this becomes an issue, please extinguish the candle and remove larger pieces. Crystal types will vary from candle to candle.
Always burn candles safely. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and make sure you keep them away from pets and children. We advise burning them on a heat-proof surface or plate.
Insurance
With regards to spiritual & holistic therapies: Professional Indemnity, Public Indemnity, and Public Liability Insurance is currently held through Westminster Insurance
